My Approach
My approach to therapy is first and foremost non-pathologizing – I do not believe my clients’ thoughts, feelings, and behaviors make them disordered or ill. While I incorporate elements from different types of therapy into my practice, my approach centers on a modality called Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). ACT is based on the idea that the full array of thoughts and feelings we experience as humans can be powerful opportunities for healing, growth, and self-compassion – if we can make space for them. While nothing is guaranteed, I am truly passionate about the effectiveness of this approach and have seen firsthand how transformative and healing it has been for many of my clients.
I also incorporate elements of mindfulness and Internal Family Systems (IFS)/parts work. I would love to chat more with you if you have any questions!
