Frequently Asked Questions

What if I can’t afford therapy?

Please feel free to inquire about the availability of sliding scale spots. Click here to learn more about other options that might work for you.

Do you TAKE INSURANCE?

I am currently in network with Aetna, Oscar, Oxford Health Plan, and United Healthcare. I expect to be in network with Anthem BC and Blue Shield in January 2023. If you are out of network and your insurance allows you to use out-of-network benefits for therapy, I am happy to provide a monthly invoice (i.e., a "superbill") to submit for reimbursement. However, you will be responsible for paying each session in full by the time of the appointment. See here for more information on using out-of-network benefits.

What if I’m not sure if you’re the right therapist for me?

Not everyone is right for you and that’s okay! My first priority is to make sure we’re a good fit for each other. In fact, if you’re able to, I think it’s a good idea to talk to a couple of therapists to ask questions and get a sense of their style. I offer a free 15 minute consultation where we can get to know each other a little bit and answer any questions you might have.

How long are the sessions and how often are they scheduled?

Sessions are 50 minutes long. I ask that my clients meet on a weekly basis for at least 4 weeks, after which we can explore bi-weekly sessions as an option if desired.

I don’t think I’m ready to take the plunge – any advice?

We’re all at different levels of our growth and there’s nothing wrong with that. While therapy does involve a certain amount of discomfort and taking risk, it’s quite a big leap and it’s important to acknowledge that. If you feel comfortable, we can talk about anything holding you back in a free consultation call. Otherwise, you can check out other mental health-related resources (link) and we can have a chat when you’re ready!
