change is possible… but where do you begin?
You've been yearning for something more. A life more free, happy, and unburdened by anxious and depressed thoughts and feelings. You have an idea of what's going wrong and you see it in your career, relationships, family, or self-image. You find yourself stuck in patterns of feelings, thoughts, and behaviors that you can't break. So where do we go from here?
There’s a better way!
My clients want to feel free of the anxiety and self-doubt that hinder them from living a rich and meaningful life. They believe there are better things in store for themselves -- if only they could manage the thoughts and feelings that seem to dictate their lives. Many of my clients come to me because they fear they may not have the tools to approach tough and stressful situations with clarity, courage, and intention.
Most of my clients experiencing anxiety and depression are struggling to navigate through situations that bring up strong and overwhelming thoughts and feelings. Therapy may be for you if:
Anxiety, guilt, shame, and stress seem to be your baseline emotions
You struggle with self-worth and self-confidence
Your automatic reactions to situations involve feeling and thinking badly about yourself
You feel adrift or anchorless, and could benefit from having clarity and motivation
You seem to be in constant 'management' mode, and rarely have time for yourself
Memories from the past are starting to surface and affect how you show up in relationships
Your First Therapy Session
My goal for my clients is to help them work through the thoughts, feelings, limiting beliefs, and traumas that hold them back from living fully and authentically. Therapy ISN’T:
Only for serious issues. Even if you don't feel like you have any "big" problems, but might be able to benefit from a confidential space to talk things through, therapy can be for you!
Your therapist controlling every session and giving you solutions to problems. Therapy is collaborative and built on a therapist-client relationship of mutual trust and connection.
Only for people with no support systems. Sometimes it helps to get a different perspective or have a dedicated space for processing thoughts and feelings.
Only limited to talk therapy. There are a variety of tools and strategies we can use to address issues that come up -- effective therapy should be tailored to your needs.
We'll meet for an initial intake session to get a sense of what you'd like to achieve through therapy and how I can help you get there. The intake involves a conversation about possible goals for therapy as well as some basic information so I can get to know you better. You may feel vulnerable or uneasy at first, but whatever we discuss and whatever pace we go at is completely up to you.
I also offer a 15-minute consultation session if you'd like a little more information on whether or not we'd be a good fit. I’m excited about helping clients discover their potential for growth and healing, and the strategies they can use to achieve this. My therapeutic framework is non-pathologizing; I do not believe my clients' problems make them "ill" or broken. I believe in honoring and nurturing the richness and diversity of the human experience, believe there is space for every kind of experience and identity, and believe every kind of experience and identity deserves compassion and connection.
